Recital 9.5 Release Notes

New Platforms

Recital Engine (applies to Recital Terminal Developer, Recital Database Server, Recital Web Developer and Recital Mirage Application Server)

  • New Functions REQUIRE() and REQUIRE_ONCE() for loading C extension or 4GL libraries.
  • Fox compatibility: now allows import of dates with "/" character during APPEND FROM SDF.
  • Fox (SCO) compatibility: now supports SYS(31) function.
  • Fox compatibility: now supports trimmed SYS(2) return values in Fox SET COMPATIBLE environments.
  • Miscellaneous Fox compatibility enhancements.
  • MySQL compatibility: now supports MySQL syntax for SQL SELECT...LIMIT...OFFSET.
  • PostgreSQL compatibility: now supports PostgreSQL syntax for SQL SELECT...LIMIT...OFFSET.
  • Array processing functions (AADD(), ADEL(), ASIZE(), ALEN() etc.) can now be used with array type object properties.
  • PADC(), PADL() and PADR() functions now accept numerics and dates as well as character strings.
  • New environment variable DB_COMPMULICOMM for enhanced Clipper 5 compatibility to enable compilation of multiple commands blocks on the same source line.
  • Miscellaneous Clipper 5 compatibility enhancements.
  • C-ISAM support extended to Windows products (previously available on Linux/UNIX only).
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes.

Recital Enterprise Studio / Recital Visual Developer

  • New distribution automatically handles the installation of: the .NET Framework 2.0, J# .NET Runtime, MDAC 2.8, Recital Mirage Application Server, Recital Enterprise Studio and the Recital Documentation.
  • WebClient now supported under .NET Frameworks 2.0 and 3.0.
  • WebClient now supports sidebar control.
  • Easier deployment for WebClients with RecitalWebClient.dll package.
  • Mirage.newClient(): Once you have logged in with the Mirage WinClient you can now have as many client windows on the desktop as you want without having to relogin each time. The client now uses common login credentials. You can fire up a new client using: Mirage.newClient("-app yourapp -command yourprg").
    This is demonstrated in the included sample_demo project. This allows you to have multiple application windows at the same time, e.g. browsing, a form and reports.
  • New configuration parameter DB_MIRAGE_COMPATIBLE to define the Xbase compatibility setting for the application.
  • New configuration parameter DB_MIRAGE_FILETYPE to define the Xbase file type setting for the application.
  • New configuration parameter DB_MIRAGE_STATUSBAR to enable the client window status bar.
  • New configuration parameter DB_MIRAGE_WINDOWVISIBLE to enable the client to run without a visible window. This can be particularly useful when used with Mirage.newClient() if you want to run a report without letting the user have to close an empty client window.
  • Excel reporting now supports Excel 2007.
  • BROWSE now supports the NOMODIFY option
  • Enhanced sample projects.
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes.

Recital Server

  • Ability to set maximum number of log file versions (Windows).
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes.

WebDeveloper / Firecat Web Server

  • Now handles accented characters.
  • Now handles the display of memo contents when returned from a SELECT query.
  • Now supports the display of Flash content.
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes.

Recital Terminal Developer

  • New environment variable DB_FILECASE. Setting DB_FILECASE="true" allows case sensitivity in the parameters passed from the Operating System.
  • New environment variable DB_ADDNEWLINE. Setting DB_ADDNEWLINE="false" disables double spacing in TEXTEDIT(). New parameter to TEXTEDIT() has the same effect if set to .F. (false).
  • New environment variables DB_NOCALCULATOR and DB_NOCALENDAR to disable the popup calculator (numeric fields) and calendar (date fields) respectively.
  • New environment variable DB_SAVEHISTORY to determine whether persistent history will be written to the command.his file.
  • SET LANGUAGE now accepts SERBIAN as a language keyword.
  • DBEDIT() now recognizes the SET WRAP setting. If SET WRAP is off,column wrapping is disabled.
  • Local / application specific profile.db files are now supported for the setting of environment variables.
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes.
