The Recital 9 Database Server provides high-performance access to a variety of data and information sources on multiple platforms that works with practically any tool or language, leveraging the technical skills developers already have. The technologies that the Recital 9 Database Server supports enable organizations to create easy-to-maintain solutions and use their choice of best-of-breed tools, languages and data sources on the client, middle-tier, or server.
Broad cross-platform support
The Recital 9 Database Server runs on Windows, Linux, Unix and OpenVMS servers with complete cross-server connectivity for accessing data across diverse platforms.
Integrate
The Recital 9 Database Server does not require expensive and time-consuming movement of all corporate data into a single data store, nor does it require commitment to a single vendor's products.
An open solution
The Recital 9 Database Server is based on open industry specifications with broad industry support and works with all major established database products, as well as its own high performance database engine.
Evolutionary
The Recital 9 Database Server is an evolutionary step from standard interfaces such as .NET Managed Data Providers, Open Database Connectivity (ODBC), Java Database Connectivity (JDBC), and ADO, and it significantly extends the functionality of these well-known and well-tested technologies.
ANSI compliant SQL
The Recital 9 Database Server has a complete ANSI compliant SQL engine that works with Recital, Visual FoxPro, FoxPro, FoxBASE, Clipper, CISAM, and RMS data.
Visual FoxPro 8.0 compatible database server
The Recital 9 Database Server also includes a complete Visual FoxPro
8.0 compatible SQL engine that works with Recital, Visual FoxPro,
FoxPro, FoxBASE, Clipper, CISAM, and RMS data. The Visual FoxPro
8.0 compatible SQL engine also provides complete support for writing
server-side stored procedures in Visual FoxPro.
Provides Enterprise Data and Legacy Application connectivity
The Recital 9 Database Server provides connectivity to relational and non-relational data sources, transaction systems, and legacy applications through native drivers across all major computing platforms.
Integrated XML support
The Recital 9 Database Server provides integrated XML language support providing Microsoft ADO.NET XML compatible data import and export that works with Recital, Visual FoxPro, FoxPro, FoxBASE, Clipper, CISAM, and RMS data. You can import and export data across platforms using XML.
Very Large Database support
The Recital 9 Database Server supports Very Large Databases (tables larger than 2GB) up to 2^63 bytes. Archiving large amounts of data in Recital 9 has never been easier.
Easy to Install and Administer
The Recital 9 Database Server is easy to install supporting multiple standard client drivers that have been proven and tested to provide instant productivity.
Universal .NET access to all major databases -- residing anywhere
The Recital Universal .NET Data Provider is a managed provider built with 100% managed code, delivering robust, secure, high-performance data connectivity to all leading SQL databases as well as many non-SQL data sources through the use of our own SQL engine that sits on top of these data sources. In addition, using our Universal ODBC Server, JDBC Server or ADO Server, you will be able to connect to virtually any database from the .NET environment.
World class customer support
Should you ever need help getting the most out of our products, our technical support team is available by email, phone or fax to answer your technical questions about our products. We'll provide the kind of support you'll need during development and afterwards.
The Recital 9 Database Server is a high performance architecture
We know from experience that performance is of paramount concern
to developers and users of data access technologies. The Recital
9 Database Server consequently has been designed with performance
as its number one goal.
Write server-side business logic in Visual FoxPro
Included with the Recital 9 Database Server, is full support for server-side stored procedures, business logic, and triggers written in Recital, Visual FoxPro, FoxPro, and Clipper.
Open and extensible
Developers can extend the power of the Recital 9 Database Server engine by writing custom 3GL function libraries that use the Recital/API.
Navigational and SQL Data Access
The Recital 9 Database Server engine provides navigational access to databases as well as SQL data access. Navigational data access is invaluable when application performance is critical.
Local Cursor Engine
Easily manipulate data interactively and programmatically.
Active Data Dictionary
Create persistent relationships between tables, stored procedures, events, triggers, rules, and default values.
Database Events
Control user actions with code that executes when a database is opened, closed, or modified.
Built-in Batch-Processing Capabilities
Quickly and directly manipulate large amounts of data in corporate transaction-processing solutions.
Universal .NET Data Provider
Provide access to any Recital 9 managed data from other clients built with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET.
Structured Error Handling
Control and encapsulate error handling in code using TRY...CATCH...FINALLY structure, escalate exceptions using THROW, and manage using Exception objects.
Local and Remote Views
Build applications based on queries that return filtered data for increased performance. Take remote data offline for added power.
